    Student filling out application.

The Graduate School of Education offers over eighty programs across four departments. There is a program right for you and your specific needs.

When you begin your online application, please make sure to choose a degree program from the drop-down list before moving to other parts of the application.

Can't find your program in the drop-down list? Here is why:

    • The program you are interested in does not offer admission in the term you selected. Please check that you have selected an appropriate entry term.
    • The application hasn't yet been opened for the entry term you are seeking. Degree and certificate program applications are generally opened for a calendar year in the preceding July, August or September. Non-degree applications are generally opened two to three months before the start of classes.
    • The program is no longer accepting applications. Programs with hard deadlines close at 11:59 p.m. ET on the deadline date, while programs with priority deadlines generally close four weeks before the start of classes.

Are you an international student and unable to take the IELTS, PTE or TOEFL?

If you are currently unable to take the IELTS, PTE or TOEFL tests because they are canceled due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the University at Buffalo will accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) for proof of English proficiency. This test can be taken online, in your own home. More information can be found on the Graduate School’s website.

The TOEFL iBT® Special Home Edition is a safe and convenient option for students who are unable to take the TOEFL iBT test at a test center due to public health concerns.
