Lead in the Lab and Classroom

The UB Teach biology education program is an accelerated five-year combined degree, offering a bachelor's in biological sciences and a master's in biology education. It provides content expertise in biology and prepares you to teach grades 5-12. Students benefit from studying in both the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Learning and Instruction, gaining deep knowledge of biology and effective teaching methods.

Enrolled students will:

  1. Participate in "Lead with the lab," which fosters intellectual curiosity
    and critical thinking in life sciences.
  2. Engage in interdisciplinary studies to make impactful discoveries in
    biological sciences.
  3. Gain practical experience through intensive clinical education with
    Western New York schools.
  4. Develop skills and confidence to implement evidence-based practices
    and co-teach in a one-year residency.
