Earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just 5 years—saving time and money—so you can become a teacher and start changing lives sooner.
Save time and money—and become a teacher who changes lives sooner. During your first three years of the program, you’ll study a particular content area in UB’s College of Arts and Sciences. Then, in your last two years, you’ll get the skills to teach what you’ve learned in our Graduate School of Education—an experience that culminates with a one-year teaching residency.
In 2022, Jordon Krivonos was among the first group of graduates in the UB Teach program. After being on the job for a year, she says all the hard work she put in here—as well as the intensive mentoring she received—made the next step that much easier. Hear from recent graduates about their first-year teaching experiences—like the joy of seeing students engage deeply with literature and grow in confidence. Through mentorship, co-teaching, and hands-on curriculum development, they’re ready to lead from day one.
UB Teach graduates are eligible for New York State professional teaching certification in grades 5-12. You’ll graduate in just 5 years, saving time and money—and you won’t have to apply to grad school.
Every student in the UB Teach program participates in a full-year teacher residency, in which you’ll co-teach next to a skilled mentor. You’ll benefit from experiencing the rhythms of a complete school year as you get to know each of your students.
UB is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP), a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
As a student in the UB Teach program, you’ll focus on one of these content areas before learning how to be a teacher.
