Lead the Stage and the Classroom

The UB Teach music education program is a five-year, accelerated combined degree program earning you both a bachelor's in music performance and a master's in music education. It equips you with content expertise while preparing you to teach general, instrumental and vocal music in PreK to 12th grade. You will study in both the Department of Music and the Graduate School of Education's Department of Learning and Instruction.

Enrolled students will:

  • Immerse themselves in a vibrant community of musicians and educators dedicated to excellence.
  • Enhance your teaching effectiveness by understanding how students learn and engage with music.
  • Engage in intensive clinical education experiences with diverse Western New York schools.
  • Develop skills and confidence to apply evidence-based practices in the classroom and co-teach with an expert teacher during a one-year residency.
