Combined Degrees

Through collaborative agreements between our departments and other UB academic units, you have the opportunity to earn two degrees simultaneously.

  • English/Information and Library Science, BA/MS
Our combined degree program will provide English students the ability to complement undergraduate studies with focused graduate coursework in Information and Library Science (ILS). The program provides the necessary coursework and preparation for new professionals entering the Information and Library Science profession. Graduates will be competitive for jobs in places like academic libraries, archives, and other public institutions where a master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program, along with domain knowledge in English, would be desirable or even required for many positions.
  • English/School Librarianship, BA/MS
Our combined degree program will provide English students the ability to bridge interests in literature with a profession in education. Students will complement undergraduate English studies with focused graduate coursework in school librarianship, preparing them to secure New York State certified K-12 teacher librarian credentials for work in a school library setting. This combined degree program enables students to complete two degrees in less time, saving valuable dollars and getting them into the workforce sooner.
  • History/School Librarianship, BA/MS

Our combined degree program offers history students the unique opportunity to enhance their undergraduate studies with specialized graduate coursework in School Librarianship. This comprehensive program equips you with the knowledge and skills required to obtain state-certified K-12 teacher librarian credentials, enabling you to embark on a rewarding career as a K-12 teacher librarian in a school library setting.
