The UB Teach Latin Education program is an accelerated, combined degree program where you can earn a classics bachelor's and a Latin education master's in five years. This program provides content in the classics while preparing you to teach Latin for grades 5-12. You'll study in the Department of Classics and the Department of Learning and Instruction.
Enrolled students will:
- Explore the legacy of the Greek and Roman world and its impact on modern culture.
- Study the essential elements of classics, including Latin, Greek and Roman history, art, archaeology and culture.
- Engage in intensive clinical education with Western New York schools, experiencing diverse teaching environments.
- Develop skills and confidence to apply evidence-based practices in the classroom through a one-year residency, co-teaching with an expert teacher.

You will not apply separately to graduate study; instead, there are a series of progression points that you must meet.
Advancement to the graduate portion of the program requires that you:
- maintain a 3.0 GPA
- earn a “C” grade or higher in content courses (courses in the major)
- earn a “B-” or better in all education and graduate-level coursework
