Before you work side-by-side with GSE’s world-class faculty, before you put theory into practice in your chosen profession, before you participate in any of our groundbreaking research projects: You need to apply. Let’s walk through our process.
Our application is online-only. When you start an application, one of the first things you’ll do is indicate which program you’ve selected. You’re encouraged to choose a single program of interest. If you’re still deciding, you can see a full list here.
You don’t have to finish the application all at once—you can save your progress.
Each program in GSE sets its own application requirements, including deadlines, essays and more. Your application will be tailored to the program you select.
Transcripts: Upload copies of unofficial transcripts from every college and university you have attended. (If you are accepted, we will ask to see official transcripts.)
Letters of Recommendation: If your program requires letters of recommendation, you will provide email addresses of recommenders on your application. Once your application is complete, we will send those individuals an email, requesting a letter.
Former/Maiden Name: Please share your former/maiden name if you have one. When requesting transcripts, please ask the sending institution to indicate your current name and former/maiden name.
After starting your application, you can save it and return later to add the required materials. Our application process is entirely paperless, so you don’t need to send us anything in the mail.
Once you’ve submitted your application, you’ll pay your application fee electronically using UB’s ePay system.
You can expect your decision within 6-8 weeks of the application deadline, if not sooner. Our graduate admissions team, and the faculty members in the department to which you’re applying, will collaborate on reviewing your application.
We’ll let you know our decision either way. Information about financial aid or other support will follow at a later date. If you’re accepted, we’ll help you work through any questions as you decide what to do. Our faculty, staff and admissions team are ready to help you transition to GSE.
