  • School visits provide a real-life perspective of area schools for students

    The Graduate School of Education offers a dynamic learning environment for students interested in discovering some of the most pressing issues facing education today. Stephen Jacobson, UB Distinguished Professor from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy, is teaching an ELP 592 (American Education in Global Context) course that helps national and international students develop a better understanding of America’s education system through readings, group discussions, projects and school visits. Jacobson captures the attention of his students by bringing them to area schools, providing a real-life perspective.                                     
  • UB alumnus helps urban school avoid closure

    East High School (EHS) in Rochester, NY was facing possible closure due to a long history of failure to meet New York State Education Department (NYSED) benchmarks in 2014, but Stephen Uebbing (EdD ’87, Educational Administration) and the University of Rochester (UR) were approached by the Rochester City School District and asked to oversee EHS. Uebbing and UR agreed to collaborate and took an aggressive approach to support the EHS students.           
  • Analyzing postsecondary experiences and social supports

    Megan Holland, research assistant professor from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy, is partnering with a nonprofit that provides a college preparatory pipeline program for traditionally underrepresented students to analyze alumni data to better understand the experiences of their alumni, including the impact of the supports they receive in college. The collaboration is part of the UB Graduate School of Education Faculty in Residence Program.
  • Robert Davies receives UB Distinguished Alumni Award
    10/23/18
    On October 12, the UB Alumni Association recognized 12 outstanding alumni and friends for their achievements and for bringing distinction to the University at Buffalo. These alumni accomplishments significantly benefit both society and the university community, advancing the common good and inspiring others with passion and creativity.
