Dave Mawer is a fourth-year PhD student in the CISL program. His research interests include STEAM and media arts education. A few current interests in this vein include the assessment of computational thinking skills within media arts contexts, understanding expectations for instructors’ pedagogical content knowledge in transdisciplinary learning environments, and exploring the potential of STEAM curriculum in supporting the recruitment and engagement of historically minoritized groups in STEM pathways. Dave holds a BS in Visual Arts Education and an EdM in Technology and Education. He currently teaches visual arts courses at Daemen College and occasionally teaches media study courses at UB. Aside from academics, Dave enjoys outdoor adventure activities and exploring the Buffalo culinary scene.
