Driven by a commitment to remove barriers for exceptional students, the University at Buffalo Graduate School of Education will offer new funding opportunities of up to $38,000 for full-time, on-campus PhD students.
25 graduate assistantships will be awarded to newly admitted GSE students for the 2023-24 academic year. Currently, eleven assistantships—with fellowship support—are available at $38,000 each. Additionally, fourteen assistantships are available at $23,000 each.
“Preparing the next generation of scholars is a role we take seriously in the Graduate School of Education. The increase in our graduate assistantship stipends reflects our commitment to recruiting, preparing and supporting a diverse group of talented scholars,” said Suzanne Rosenblith, GSE dean and professor.
The funding reflects GSE’s commitment to improving access to doctoral education and fostering student excellence through a rigorous and supportive teaching and learning environment, where students are provided with the very best experiences in terms of their academic programs and research opportunities.
Students who receive a graduate assistantship are awarded a tuition scholarship for nine credits at the standard graduate tuition rate. All fees are included, and additional support may be available for conference travel, moving expenses and textbook expenses depending on award type.
Applicants to the following GSE programs will be considered for assistantships and fellowships:
Graduate assistant positions in the Graduate School of Education are offered annually to academically admissible students in PhD programs.
The new PhD funding opportunities follow GSE’s groundbreaking cluster hiring initiative, in which 13 new faculty scholars joined the school in 2022. Their research interests—focused on interrogating racial inequity in new and different ways, combined with GSE’s research strengths in the learning sciences, educational policy and bullying abuse prevention—pave the way for a new cohort of PhD students for the fall 2023 semester.
Students interested in doctoral programs and funding opportunities should contact GSE’s Office of Graduate Admission at 716-645-2110 or email@example.com. Additional information about funding opportunities at GSE is available on the school’s website.
