Summary Faculty Mentor

Hello! My name is Jay’ana and I am a counseling psychology doctoral student in CSEP, expected graduation in May 2026. I am a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native who graduated from Temple University with a BA in honors psychology. I conducted an honors thesis on cross-racial peer preferences in schools as part of my undergraduate research assistantship in the Peer Social Networks Lab. My research and clinical interests are in racially marginalized adolescents and adults with special interest in Black individuals.

  • The effects of racial discrimination/school connectedness in Black LGBQ youth (QP working title)
  • Coping strategies for cyberhate in racially minoritized youth
  • Racial/ethnic identity and religiosity as protective factors in Black youth
