The New York State Education Department (NYSED) Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) requires that all students applying for certification as of December 31, 2013 have 6 hours of coursework or training on the social patterns of harassment, bullying and discrimination. As mandated by NYSED, this training consists of 6 total hours of training divided into Part One and Part Two. The University at Buffalo Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention is an approved provider of this training.
The second half, Part Two, of this training took place face-to-face prior to COVID-19. This portion will now take place online as per accomodations made by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Please see statement below. This accomodation has been approved to continue through December 2021 at which time we will reassess.
Statement from NYSED: To allow DASA training to continue, all approved DASA training providers, and institutions of higher education that include the DASA training in their educator preparation program curricula, may offer the DASA training entirely online during the time period of the state of emergency in New York State for the COVID-19 virus.
COVID-19 Update: The dates below represent the deadline for completing the entire 6-hour training online. There will be a maximum of 50 registrants allowed for each date. You will receive access to both Parts One and Two when you register. Please do not wait until the last minute to complete this training as our instructor will need time to grade your assessments.
Registration deadline: Registration for each session will close at least one week prior to the deadline or when the course capacity has been reached.
Cancellations must be received within 24-hours and prior to beginning the online training in order to be eligible for a refund.
