Harassment, Cyberbullying, Bullying and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention 

The New York State Education Department (NYSED) Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) requires that all students applying for certification as of December 31, 2013 have 6 hours of coursework or training on the social patterns of harassment, bullying and discrimination. As mandated by NYSED, this training consists of 6 total hours of training divided into Part One and Part Two. The University at Buffalo Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention is an approved provider of this training.

Steps to Complete This Training Through the Alberti Center

  1. Register and pay: Click on the "Register Now" button at the bottom of this page to register and pay for the training. The cost of this training is $75.00 which must be paid electronically via credit card. On your receipt for payment, which will be emailed to the address you provide, you will find the access link for Part One of the training. Click on the link for the site and go to "Enroll" to set up your account and begin. 
  2. Online session (Part One): Complete Part One (3 hours) of the 6-hour online training first. Part One does not need to be completed in one sitting and can occur at your own pace.
  3. Online session (Part Two):  Once you have successfully completed Part One, you are eligible to attend the live online portion of the training (Part Two). You will receive the Zoom link for this portion of the training one-day prior to the session you register for.
  4. Certificate of completion: You will be able to download a Certificate of Completion from the Alberti Center, for your records, once you have successfully completed Parts One and Two as well as the feedback survey. The certificate can be found on the final page of the survey which will be provided by your instructor.
  5. The New York State Education Department (NYSED) will receive an electronic copy of the information form you will complete, to be entered in the "Workshops" section of your TEACH account within one week following the completion of Part Two.
 

Upcoming Training Sessions

The dates and times below represent Part Two of the DASA training workshop. You will log into a "live" zoom session with our instructor on the date and time you register for. There will be a maximum of 20 registrants allowed for each date. You will receive access to Part One as soon as you register and can complete that portion of the training at your own pace. You must complete Part One successfully, with a score of at least 80% on each of the four quizzes, prior to receiving the Zoom link for Part Two which will be sent via email one-day prior to the training date you registered for.

  • Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. ET - online via Zoom with instructor

  • Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. ET - online via Zoom with instructor

Registration Information

Cost: $75

Registration deadline: Registration for each session will close two days prior to the deadline or when the course capacity (maximum of 20 students) has been reached.

Cancellations must be received prior to enrollment in Part One of the online training in order to be eligible for a refund.
