Literacy and Reading Education; Teacher Education
Cara Monaco-Shevlin is a third-year PhD student in Curriculum, Instruction and the Science of Learning. Her desire is to research and better understand how and why schools choose to implement Restorative Justice Practices. Furthermore, she hopes her research will explore the connection between Restorative Justice Practices and storytelling: how might such modalities work together to form a humanizing stance towards the students we serve. Cara holds a Master’s degree in education as a literacy specialist from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Adolescence English Education from the State University of New York College at Geneseo. Over the past nine years, Cara has experience working with students as a high school English teacher and literacy specialist. She enjoys spending time with her family and playing board games.
