Our master's program in higher education and student affairs is for you if you wish to pursue a career in higher education working directly with college students in student affairs, academic affairs, enrollment management, or related units. Our program focuses on providing you with the skills needed to help two- and four-year institutions meet the learning and development needs of all students and to personalize the college campus. Our program is designed to meet the guidelines developed by the Council for Advancement of Standards in Higher Education criteria for master's programs. The guidelines emphasize student development, multicultural issues and practical experience.

  • Associate Professor awarded Spencer Foundation grant
    3/29/22
    Research to assess how pandemic stimulus funding, expanded Child Tax Credit and other aid shaped student-mothers' decisions and participation in higher education.
  • Say Yes Buffalo awarded $2.9 million grant
    9/24/19
    The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded Say Yes Buffalo and its partner institutions — including UB — a 22 month, $2.9 million grant to increase college completion rates for Buffalo Public School (BPS) graduates. Say Yes Buffalo, launched in 2012, is a community collaboration dedicated to increasing high school and postsecondary graduation rates. Say Yes Buffalo is also a college scholarship program for BPS students.
  • GSE student earns mentorship from Daun-Barnett
    9/3/19
    When she was a sophomore at UB, Joanna Saintil was fired from the College Success Center in Buffalo Public Schools' Bennett High School by Nathan Daun-Barnett, associate professor from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy. Saintil often challenged her supervisors to do more to help Bennett students. After firing her, Daun-Barnett told Saintil he wanted to be her mentor to get her back on track for her degree.
  • Students from Enterprise Charter School get up-close-and-personal tour of UB
    4/16/19
    Twenty-seven students from Enterprise Charter’s Junior Frontiers of the Mohawk Valley program visited the UB North Campus to learn about diversity, intercultural experiences and the importance of going to college. Part of the tour was organized and sponsored by multiple faculty in the Graduate School of Education.
  • Analyzing postsecondary experiences and social supports
    11/20/18
    Megan Holland, research assistant professor from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy, is partnering with a nonprofit that provides a college preparatory pipeline program for traditionally underrepresented students to analyze alumni data to better understand the experiences of their alumni, including the impact of the supports they receive in college. The collaboration is part of the UB Graduate School of Education Faculty in Residence Program.
