Advanced Certificates (AC)

Advanced certificates are short, focused programs at the graduate level designed to give students advanced skills in a particular subject or area of specialization. A range of advanced certificate programs are offered both on campus and online. These certificates can be taken concurrently with another program at UB, or as a stand-alone program.

  • Applied Statistical Analysis, AC
    8/28/23
Our advanced certificate in applied statistical analysis focuses on providing a solid foundation from which you may pursue either doctoral studies or a career as a researcher whose job entails analyzing statistical data (especially as related to education). This certificate enhances your employability, and any student holding or pursuing a master's or doctoral degree from any discipline may complete this certificate.
  • International Education Data Analysis, AC
    8/14/23
This certificate is open to current UB Graduate School of Education graduate students and is designed to provide advanced preparation in data collection and analysis as related to key educational issues nationally and cross-nationally. This certificate is also designed to respond to the growing demand for national and international training in mixed methods research.
  • Mental Health Counseling, AC
    9/25/23
Our advanced graduate certificate in mental health counseling is designed to "bridge the gap" between counseling related master's degrees and the New York State educational requirements for licensure. It focuses on providing you with the necessary skills to transform the lives of your clients and advance your career goals. Those that successfully complete our program will meet New York State's educational requirements to take the licensing exam in mental health counseling.
  • Rehabilitation Counseling, AC
    8/28/23
Our rehabilitation counseling advanced certificate program is for you if you hold a master’s or doctoral degree in counseling or a related field of study and you want to help veterans or people with disabilities return to work or live independently. You will learn the background education and information needed to effectively work with clients to overcome or manage the personal, social and professional effects of disabilities on achieving their goals. Our program provides you with the educational requirements to be eligible for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam under the new Category 3 guidelines (formerly Category D and R). Additional guidelines are set and approved by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) requirements.
  • School Counseling, AC
    4/8/22
Our advanced certificate in school counseling focuses on training school counselors to assist students in grades K-12 in academic, career and personal/social development. Our program is for you if you have a master's degree in school counseling and are seeking permanent certification as a school counselor in New York State. Upon completion of this program, you will be able to work as a school counselor in New York State.
