The Graduate School of Education is committed to engaging meaningfully with the schools and communities we serve. We are dedicated to building and sustaining partnerships that allow for the mutual exchange of ideas, and working collaboratively to conduct research that solves real problems and informs policy for the public good.
This program empowers local youth to become advocates for change in their schools on topics that matter most to them and their classmates. Young people re-imagine our public schools and work to create an inclusive, equitable, emancipatory public education system that reflects and enacts our ideals.
The University at Buffalo, in collaboration with the Graduate School of Education, provides FREE tutoring services to local students in grades 3-12. Tutor-mentors in all subjects are available. We match your student with a UB student who will offer academic guidance in regular one-to-one online tutoring sessions.
LEARN, or Literacy, Access and Equity: Embracing Diversity to Enrich Our Community, is a course that places UB undergraduate students in Buffalo Public School classrooms as literacy trainers and mentors addressing early literacy needs, while simultaneously developing a pipeline of future teachers.
Are you in need of academic tutors? We are happy to facilitate connections to GSE students and/or faculty regarding needs and opportunities.
GSE faculty work with students, teachers and administrators in Western New York schools gaining practical experience and sharing expertise.
GSE engages in a number of fruitful, long-term, and mutually beneficial collaborations with school districts and educational organizations.
Talks are organized around an annual theme and timely topics, identified by junior faculty.
