Yuya Yamamoto, MA, seeks to make scholarly contributions to the field of applied linguistics and teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) to have a direct impact on teaching and learning contexts all over the world. His research interests include language teacher education, second and foreign language pedagogy, qualitative research, and design-based research. In 2015-16, he was awarded a British Council IELTS scholarship and completed his MA in teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL) at the University of Birmingham. He also was awarded a grant from the Fulbright Foreign Student Program to pursue his PhD. Before starting his PhD studies, Yuya taught English for five years at a girls’ integrated junior and senior high school in Japan. His experience teaching secondary school has fostered his belief in motivating students to realize, through active learning of English, that they can enhance their lives. In his free time, he likes watching sports and going to local cafés.
