Identity Development; Racial Trauma; Health Disparities; Psychological and Physiological Well-Being; Protective Factors; Somatic and Spiritual Healing
My research aims to explore how systemic oppression and intersecting social identities impact the identity development and well-being—mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual—of African diasporic women. By examining the sociocultural factors, including racial trauma, that shape self-concept and contribute to health disparities, I aim to explore both the pathways through which systemic inequities affect well-being and the resulting psychological and physiological manifestations. I am also interested in exploring protective factors that may buffer these effects to inform culturally attuned, body-centered, and liberatory practices that support healing and sustained thriving.
