Zhiyi Liu is a third-year PhD student specializing in curriculum, instruction and the science of learning (CISL). She is interested in ESL/EFL teachers, how their beliefs about teaching influence classroom practices, and how they implement multimodality and technology in their teaching in the classroom. She is also interested in using qualitative methodologies to examine ESL/EFL teachers’ experiences within their real-life contexts. Her early research interests focused on the influences of cultural contexts on bilingual students’ learning opportunities in the digital age. Prior to UB, Zhiyi received her master’s degree in applied linguistics from the University of Queensland, Australia. Currently, she is working on novice and experienced EFL university teachers’ beliefs about integrating multimodality and technology into their EFL instruction and curriculum.
