Summary Faculty Mentor

Leah Bartlo is a PhD student in the Curriculum, Instruction and the Science of Learning program and a 2021 presidential fellowship recipient. She intends to focus her research on strategies to improve and expand educational services for children affected by lead poisoning and their families. Leah earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University at Buffalo and master’s degree in counselor education from St. Bonaventure University. Leah has worked in human services for over 20 years, first with individuals with disabilities, in direct care, social work and quality assurance, and, more recently, with the Learning Disabilities Association of Western New York as Program Director of LEAD716, an innovative program that provides early educational and social-emotional interventions to preschool children diagnosed with elevated blood lead levels in our community. In her free time, Leah enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her husband and three sons.
