Summary Faculty Mentor

Jessica Davis is a third-year PhD student in the CISL program.  She hopes to research how the use of Critical Literacy Pedagogies (CLP) can impact both teachers and students in the English Language Arts classroom. Current research shows the benefits that CLP can have on students and on teachers, but there is limited research on how CLP impacts the social-emotional affect of students and teachers in terms of classroom environment, community-based involvement, and teacher effectiveness of instruction. Jessica enjoys incorporating research from Critical Theory, Intersectional Theory, and components of Multicultural Education Pedagogies. Jessica currently holds a bachelor's in childhood education and a master's in literacy (birth to grade 12). Jessica has been a teacher in a variety of classroom spaces for the past six years. Jessica loves cooking, photography and reading.
