My recent research focuses on Chinese and Indian students’ social, cultural, academic and marginalization experiences in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the world, China and India are the two heavyweights of exporting international students to Western countries. In December 2019, COVID-19 broke out in Wuhan, China; and Chinese students became the targeted group. Many Chinese and other East Asian ethnicities have suffered various forms of discrimination, from verbal harassment to physical attacks and vandalism. Even if Indian students were not attacked by public hostility and vicious words, they still suffered from cultural differences, isolation and depression. My research investigates the sameness and difference between Chinese and Indian students. Moreover, I hope my research can offer valuable suggestions for U.S. campuses. In the future, education leaders will understand international students’ authentic experiences and real needs amid huge disasters.
