Grow into a dynamic educator through hands-on teaching and expert guidance. The UB Teacher Residency Program offers a paid, 16-month pathway that blends an immersive classroom experience with university coursework that better prepares you for a successful career in education.
The UB Teacher Residency Program offers a clinically intensive pathway to teacher certification modeled after the medical residency approach. This 16-month, paid residency program prepares highly effective, learner-ready teachers for public schools in Buffalo and Western New York.
Resident teachers co-teach alongside expert mentor teachers for an entire school year, gaining hands-on experience in real classrooms. At the same time, they engage in rigorous university coursework, merging theory with practice to build a strong foundation in teaching. The program provides comprehensive support from mentor teachers and UB faculty, ensuring residents are well-prepared to lead their classrooms and meaningfully impact their students' learning experiences.
The UB Teacher Residency, which begins with asynchronous coursework in the summer, also offers grant-funded opportunities through partnerships with local school districts, making it an accessible and rewarding option for aspiring educators.
Take the next step toward a fulfilling career in education by joining a program designed to empower you to succeed in today's diverse classrooms.
