The Center for Literacy and Reading Instruction

The Center for Literacy and Reading Instruction (CLaRI) at the University at Buffalo has been a trusted resource for literacy services in Western New York since 1963, helping thousands of children in grades 1–12 improve their reading and writing skills. At CLaRI, we provide individualized, research-based literacy assessment and instruction tailored to each child’s unique needs, from those slightly below grade level to those facing significant challenges. Our hands-on tutoring sessions include real literature, spelling, vocabulary and engaging activities designed to foster growth in reading and writing. In just one 12-week session, children often show significant progress, making CLaRI a cornerstone for literacy development and research in the community.
