My research sits at the intersection of linguistics, applied language studies, and STEM education. I examine how language dynamically shapes meaning-making, identity construction, and access within STEM learning environments. Specifically, I explore how students—particularly those from linguistically diverse and historically marginalized communities—use language to navigate, participate, and thrive in STEM spaces. Grounded in an asset-based perspective, my work highlights the rich linguistic practices that learners bring and how these practices can transform learning and advance more equitable and inclusive educational opportunities.
