Information Behavior
Annette Buckley received her MSIS from the iSchool at the University of Texas at Austin and her BA in communication from Trinity University. She also has a Graduate Gemologist (G.G.) diploma from the Gemological Institute of America. She is the Business and Economics Librarian at the University of California, Irvine. Drawing on her professional observations as an academic librarian, Annette is working on a theoretical model for what she calls “Mythical Questions.” An MQ is a question that presupposes the availability of information to satisfactorily answer it, but the desired information is unavailable to the questioner. Her other research interests include: 1) how academic library leaders characterize the library to the campus community; 2) how academic librarians, in the course of curating infrastructure and resources (e.g. LibGuides, collections, policies, etc.), infer users’ needs; 3) information behavior of jewelry industry participants.
