COUNSELING, SCHOOL AND EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
My research interests broadly explore the impact of race, ethnicity, and culture (REC) on counseling & counselor education, anti-racist school counseling practice, and culturally relevant and innovative counseling approaches (i.e, gaming, Hip-Hop).
Jacoby Loury, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the School Counseling program within the CSEP department at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Loury joins UB with vast K-12 experience as a student advocate through roles of Professional School Counselor, supervisor, and scholar. His research highlights the ways in which identity, particularly race, ethnicity, and gender, influence how students develop as counselors and engage with diverse populations. Current projects aim to identify best practice that incorporate modern innovations to providing anti-racist school counseling practice.
