Harassment, Cyberbullying, Bullying and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) requires that all students applying for certification as of December 31, 2013 have 6 hours of coursework or training on the social patterns of harassment, bullying and discrimination. As mandated by NYSED, this training consists of a 3-hour online portion and a 3-hour face-to-face portion. The University at Buffalo Alberti Center for Bullying Abuse Prevention is an approved provider of this training.
The second half, 3 hour face-to-face, portion of the DASA Training sessions will take place online as per accomodations made by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). Please see statement below. This accomodation will continue through Spring 2021 at which time we will reassess. Thank you for your patience and support during this challenging time.
Statement from NYSED: To allow DASA training to continue, all approved DASA training providers, and institutions of higher education that include the DASA training in their educator preparation program curricula, may offer the DASA training entirely online during the time period of the state of emergency in New York State for the COVID-19 virus.
If you need this training immediately, and cannot wait for the next deadline, you can find a list of other NYSED DASA approved providers here.
Cost: $75
Registration deadline: Registration for each face-to-face training session will close at least one week in advance or when the course capacity has been reached.
