Alberti Center Early Career Award

The Alberti Center Distinguished Scholarly Contributions to Bullying Abuse Prevention Award, presented annually, recognizes an individual who has made exemplary scholarly contributions to the field of bullying abuse prevention and conducted research that has the potential to influence practice and policy.

The deadline for applications was July 24, 2026. We will be announcing the recipient of our 2026 Early Career Award soon. Watch this space!

Distinguished Scholarly Contributions to Bullying Abuse Prevention
Application Deadline: Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET

This award will recognize an individual who has made exemplary scholarly contributions to the field of bullying abuse prevention and conducted research that has the potential to influence practice and policy.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from early career professionals (no more than seven years from receiving doctoral degree) from psychology, education or a related field who work in an accredited college or university setting.

Award

The recipient of this award will receive a plaque and $1,000.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted by Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. ET and must include the following (single-spaced typed using 12-point font with 1-inch margins):

  • Cover letter: A cover letter (no more than 1 page) summarizing exemplary contributions to effectively reducing bullying abuse
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Two letters of support: Letters of support from individuals familiar with specific professional contributions
  • Optional: Maximum of two supporting documents (e.g., publication reprint, program evaluation report)

2026 Early Career Award Recipient

This award recognizes Natalie Spadafora, PhD, an individual who has made exemplary scholarly contributions to the field of bullying abuse prevention and conducted research that has the potential to influence practice and policy.

Biography

Dr. Natalie Spadafora is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Child and Youth Studies at Brock University in Ontario, Canada. Her research centers on classroom incivility in adolescence, peer relationships, antisocial behaviour, educator experiences in the classroom, and peer defending in bullying situations.
