At the ECRC, every season is an opportunity for growth, discovery and joy. We offer the following classes throughout the year for children ages 2 to 5 years old. From toddlers taking their first steps into cooperative play to preschoolers and pre-K students building the skills and confidence for kindergarten, our classrooms are designed to nurture the whole child.
(half day only)
Our toddler classroom serves up to 12 children aged 21 months to 3 years. The class meets Monday through Friday mornings from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and is staffed by two lead teachers plus up to three student interns each day.
Designed specifically for early childhood development, our toddler program provides a safe, engaging space where curiosity, confidence and independence can grow. At this stage, toddlers often engage in parallel play—exploring side by side—before progressing to cooperative play with gentle guidance from our educators. This transition supports the development of essential social skills as children begin to share ideas, emotions and laughter with their peers.
We celebrate each child’s unique voice, feelings and choices. Through consistent routines and open-ended activities in our learning centers, children are encouraged to make decisions, express themselves and build a strong sense of self. This foundation of autonomy fosters a feeling of capability in an environment scaled to their needs.
Messy play is a core part of our approach. From splashing water to smearing paint or squishing clay, toddlers use their senses and whole bodies to explore. These hands-on experiences promote sensory development, problem-solving and confidence through trial and error.
Our classroom honors the journey from “me” to “we,” guiding toddlers as they discover the world around them while learning about themselves within it. Through purposeful play, caring relationships and responsive teaching, we nurture the social, emotional and cognitive growth that prepares them for a lifetime of learning.
(half day and full day options)
Our preschool classroom serves up to 18 children aged 3 to 4 years. We offer both half-day (8:30–11:30 a.m.) and full-day (8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) options. Full-time preschool runs Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
At this stage, play is the foundation for learning. Over the course of the school year, preschoolers increase their independence, strengthen friendships and develop key pre-academic skills. With growing attention spans, children are supported in practicing problem-solving, and their play becomes more complex and collaborative.
We promote each child’s agency by encouraging choice and voice in their learning experiences. Mornings feature a variety of interdisciplinary learning centers where children can explore, experiment and create. Whole group learning time builds classroom community, fosters idea sharing, celebrates accomplishments and invites storytelling.
Snack is served family-style, promoting cooperation and independence. Each morning ends with a full hour outdoors, where children may play freely, join organized games or revisit learning centers set up outside.
Full-day preschoolers enjoy lunch together followed by nap or rest time. Those who do not nap are supported with quiet, independent activities such as coloring or puzzles. Afternoons focus on long-term projects, extended play and another hour of outdoor exploration.
Our preschool program blends structured and unstructured experiences to support social, emotional, cognitive and physical growth, preparing children for a smooth transition to kindergarten and beyond.
(half day and full day options)
Our pre-K classroom serves up to 18 children and is led by two experienced teachers with the support of up to three student interns each day. We offer both half-day (8:30–11:30 a.m.) and full-day (8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) options. Full-time pre-K runs Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Designed to prepare children for kindergarten, our pre-K program blends structured learning with play-based exploration to build academic readiness, social skills and independence. Small class sizes, dedicated educators and a supportive environment ensure every child is known, encouraged and challenged to reach their full potential.
During the summer, our classes meet Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. We offer two sessions: Summer Session I and Summer Session II. In addition to toddler, preschool and pre-K classes, we host a school-age program for children ages 5 to 8 during Summer Session II.
Our summer programs provide engaging, play-based learning experiences that keep children curious, active and connected. With hands-on activities, outdoor exploration and supportive educators, each session helps children grow socially, emotionally and academically while enjoying a fun summer environment.
Our school-age summer program serves up to 16 children with at least one teacher and two interns. Designed for students entering first or second grade in the fall, this class operates only during Summer Session II for six weeks.
Many of our school-agers are returning ECRC alumni who enjoy a summer of active play and meaningful learning. With much of the program taking place outdoors, we focus on building relationships, fostering a sense of community and developing respect and appreciation for the natural environment. Acting as role models for younger children, our school-age participants often serve as reading buddies to our preschool and pre-K friends.
Each week culminates in a “Fun Friday” project that sparks creativity and teamwork. Activities may include tie-dye, canvas painting, theatre performances and other hands-on projects that let children explore new skills while celebrating their accomplishments together.
