Tuition and Fees

A degree from UB provides opportunities that can bring your career goals to life. It’s also one of the best investments you can make: UB is more affordable than most private research institutions, while offering a top-tier academic experience.

Tuition and Fees Guidance

The value of a UB degree is unmatched: The experience you gain here allows you to build your career quickly, effectively and affordably. Your main source for information on UB tuition and fees is our Student Accounts page. Learn more about some of the more common concerns students like you have.

Establishing Residency

New York State residents pay less to attend UB than out-of-state residents. To qualify for in-state tuition, you need to establish residency here. In general, that means your permanent home is somewhere in New York, and that you’ve lived there for 12 consecutive months before your first term begins at UB. (If you’re currently living in a college residence hall, that’s considered temporary housing.) Other factors may apply.

Studying Part-Time

Many GSE students take classes on a per-credit basis. We’ll work with you during the admission process to understand what your degree path will look like if you study part-time. Rates vary depending on your residency status. (Students who pay per-credit rates also pay campus fees on a pro-rated basis.)

Studying Online

We understand: Between work, family and other obligations, not everybody can attend a full-time program on campus. That’s why we offer evening classes and more than 30 online-only programs. Whether you’re pursuing a certificate or a doctoral degree, you’ll build a sense of community with your cohort—and get the same stellar support you can expect from a traditional program. (You’ll be in good company. The average GSE student is 30 years old and has taken plenty of time off before continuing their studies.)
