Teach English and Unlock the Gift of Voice and Hearing

The UB Teach Speech and Hearing/ESOL program is a five-year accelerated degree, offering a speech and hearing science BA and an ESOL EdM. Gain expertise in speech and hearing while preparing to teach English. Study in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences and the Department of Learning and Instruction.

Students enrolled in this program will:

  • Understand basic human communication processes across all ages, including biological, neurological, acoustic, psychological, developmental, linguistic and cultural aspects.
  • Identify and describe normal development and use of phonology, language, fluency, social communication and hearing.
  • Participate in intensive clinical education experiences in diverse Western New York schools.
  • Develop skills, expertise and confidence to implement evidence-based practices and co-teach with an expert teacher during a one-year residency.
