Teachers Can Change Everything

The UB Teach health and human services/early childhood-childhood education program is an accelerated, combined degree program allowing you to earn a BA and EdM in five years. It provides content expertise in child development and prepares you to teach from early childhood to childhood levels. You'll study in both the Social Sciences Interdisciplinary Program and the Department of Learning and Instruction.

Students enrolled in this program will:

  • Understand typical problems, needs and interventions for children and families and develop social science research skills.
  • Gain knowledge in early childhood development, language development, family structures and services for children and families.
  • Participate in intensive clinical education experiences with Western New York early childhood centers and schools, learning the nuances of the teaching profession.
  • Develop skills, expertise, and confidence to implement evidence-based practices in the classroom and co-teach with an expert teacher in a one-year residency.
