Utilize the Power of Words and Become a Librarian

Our combined degree program allows English students to merge their love of literature with a career in education. Complement your undergraduate English studies with graduate coursework in school librarianship, earning New York State certified K-12 teacher-librarian credentials. Complete both degrees faster, saving money and entering the workforce sooner.

Students enrolled in this program will:

  • Earn a bachelor's and master's degree in five years, saving time and money.
  • Earn a BA in English and an MS in school librarianship, creating a highly marketable and innovative partnership for careers in education or libraries.
  • Enhance the value of their degree through our program’s accreditation by the American Library Association.
"In Our Poetry Era: Celebrate the Pre-Release of The Tortured Poets Department," a one-day event co-organized by members of the Poetry Collection, Music Library, and the Libraries’ Student Library Engagement Workgroup (SLEW), took place in April 2024 in Special Collections.
