The program provides the necessary coursework and preparation for new professionals entering the Information and Library Science profession. Graduates will be competitive for jobs in places like academic libraries, archives, and other public institutions where a master’s degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program, along with domain knowledge in English, would be desirable or even required for many positions.

Students will complement undergraduate English studies with focused graduate coursework in school librarianship, preparing them to secure New York State certified K-12 teacher librarian credentials for work in a school library setting. This combined degree program enables students to complete two degrees in less time, saving valuable dollars and getting them into the workforce sooner.
