Professional Development Series

We facilitate the transition from coursework to dissertation and beyond in a targeted manner, through a series of professional development workshops. The workshops are designed to enhance competitiveness in the job market and the profession more broadly, for our PhD students. Workshops include, among others:

  • Publishing in Top-Tier Academic Journals;
  • Book Publishing in the Twenty-first Century;
  • Enhancing Competitiveness for Prestigious Dissertation Grants; and
  • Navigating AERA (American Educational Research Association) as a Graduate Student.

We also maintain a brown bag series designed to enhance theoretical and content knowledge, as well as rigorous empirical research, on important topics of interest . The Educational Culture, Policy and Society brown bags are well attended by faculty members and graduate students and serve to enhance discussion about important scholarly work in the field.
